Baby Bundles has had the honor of forming a partnership with one of the most well-known organizations in the world, The Ronald McDonald House. On 6/28/2012, we had the pleasure of making our first delivery to them. 15 girl and boy Bundles are now waiting to go home with some of the families that stay at the Ronald McDonald House.
On June 21st, 2012, 11 of the boys (yes, boys) and 3 parents from the Myers Parks UMC Vacation Bible School came out to the office to help me sort through mounds of donations. In 2 hours, we went through over 8 bins of clothing and got it all sorted out and ready for bundle making. And, the boys got an early education on baby clothing! On May 22nd, Baby Bundles hosted another great volunteer event! This one was was really special because it was the first time we advertised the event to the community through Hands On Charlotte and VolunteerMatch.com. We had a spectacular turn out of friends, family members, and community members (who are now great, new Baby Bundles friends). The day was hugely successful in that we were able to sort through mounds of donations and make over 30 new bundles!

The rewards from everyone's hard work
A lot of our followers may not know this but most of our donations come from the fabulous people of the Charlotte community who are willing to donate their unsold items after local consignment sales. However, we are not able to obtain theses donations without the partnerships that we have with the local organizations and churches who host these consignment sales twice a year. On April 23rd, 2012, Cara Shields from the Bucknell University Alumni came out to the Baby Bundles office to volunteer and help make bundles. We made a ton of much needed bundles! A big thanks to Cara and Bucknell’s Alumni for thinking of Baby Bundles for their annual volunteer activity!
Today, I went to Presbyterian Hospital and had the pleasure of interviewing/meeting a new mom that had received one of our bundles!
Chantel Brown is the proud mother of her new baby girl, Trinity. Trinity was born on April 16th, 2012.
Chantel stated that she was thrilled to get a Baby Bundle and that it was going to help her with Trinity so much! She has 2 other children who are 1 and 4 and she had not kept a lot of the items from those children that she would need for Trinity (Trinity’s name was picked out by her uncle because she is the 3rd child). The day that the Baby Bundle was given to her by her social worker, she went through all the items and loved everything! The Baby Bundle was a “true gift” according to Chantel.
Chantel is planning on re-donating all of the items in the Baby Bundle once Trinity is done using them.
On March 27th, 2012, we had another great volunteer event at the Baby Bundles office! We were hugely successful in sorting through all of the great donations that have come in and in making another 15 Bundles! A big “THANKS” to everyone who came out to help! On Friday, February 10th, Christ Episcopal Church hosted a Family Service Night and over one hundred family members showed up to give their time to organizations helping others in our community. Baby Bundles was thrilled to be one of the participating service agencies chosen and with all the manpower at Christ Church, we were able to sort dozens of bags of donated infant clothing and essentials. Children of all ages and parents all worked hard side by side and did an outstanding job sorting the baby clothes and donations. It was a really fun night and the spirit of serving others was in the air. A big thanks to Christ Church and Lindsay Full and Anne Cullen from the Children and Family Ministries Team for inviting Baby Bundles to be a part of this very special night of service!

It was held on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at The learning Collaborative in No Da. 10 moms showed up to help sort! This was out first “off site” volunteer event which was as big success. We are so grateful to Sally Helweg for organizing it, Myers Park Presbyterian Church, and this amazing group of women who stepped up to serve Baby Bundles with their time and support!
